Camera Recycle Project

By SAM LEUNG

We live in an increasingly digital environment where new technologies must be constantly adapted to in order to keep up, but what of the so-called ‘digital divide’ and how do we express our identities this continuously shrinking world?

One local youth organization has been trying to bridge the gap between those that have access to technology and those that don’t.

Camera Recycle Project is a not-for-profit organization that lends cameras out to disadvantaged kids and teenagers but when their cameras were stolen last month all this changed.

Youth Reporter Sam Leung spoke to the project’s founder and manager Jade Stott to understand a bit more about how they work and why she hires cameras to people she doesn’t know.
