The Best of the Best

By Jess Allen

This morning we’re celebrating the lives of young people who have done great things.

Finalists in the Western Australia’s Australian of the Year Awards have been announced – they include community welfare leaders, meningococcal campaigners, a social change leader, a children’s champion, writer and a women’s advocate.

- and from them a young West Australian. Akram Azimi is a Afghan refugee and has lived in Australia for 13 years. He is currently studying a triple major at UWA as well as mentoring young indigenous youth.

Jess Allen caught up with him as him nomination was announced.
